Ultimately Lonely.

Portrait of woman - stock photo

Loneliness what a desperate place

You do not have to be alone to go there

Sitting across the table with nothing ever to say

Is one of the loneliest places to be

It makes sense to feel lonely if you are alone

People understand why that would be

But, even in a crowd amidst the laughter

There is still lonely me

Our lives are lived alone, really

Our own thoughts occupy our own minds

We view the world through our own eyes, nobody else

At the end of the day it is ourselves that we face

Perhaps it is true what has been said

“Maybe existence is ultimately a lonely thing.” Errol Morris
